Originally from Guatemala, Esgid is a doctoral candidate at the University of Edinburgh. Working on philosophical hermeneutics (Hans-Georg Gadamer) and the ways in which philosophical hermeneutics could move the science and religion question beyond the essentialist assumptions embedded in the modern use of the words “science” and “religion”. Also interested in the convergence between the work of Gadamer, Michael Polanyi and Owen Barfield, especially the role of language, the evolution of consciousness and the role of experience in our understanding.
